Annual concert to raise money for alumni association

ISHPEMING — One week from today, some of the top musical talents in the Upper Peninsula will gather in the same spot for ‘a night of music.’

The seventh annual night of music is set to take place Friday, May second at the Peterson Auditorium at Ishpeming High School.

A number of different performances will take place at the event, including Ishpeming High School cast of ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ and Internet drumming sensation Wayne Oien.

All of the money raised from the event will go to the Ishpeming Alumni Association and Scholarship Fund.

“This is the only fundraiser we do for the year, but it’s definitely one our highlights,” said Danny Garceau, who serves as president of the alumni association. “We enjoy sharing the local talent with the community and there’s quite the variety too. We change it up every year and each year we have a variety of music that will entertain everybody from the age of 9 to 90.”

Admission to the event is $10 a person. Ishpeming students can attend the concert at no charge to them.

The show starts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6th.
