Auto manufacturer issues recall

DETROIT — Ford Motor Company announced that is is recalling about 81,000 SUVs to fix a suspension defect in certain 2014 and 2015 Ford Explorer and Police Interceptor SUVs.

The Michigan-based automaker is recalling nearly 202,000 pickups, SUVs and cars to repair a transmission flaw involving a speed senor that can cause the system to downshift to first gear at the wrong time.

Several other vehicles from the 2011 and 2012 model years are incorporated in that recall, including the Ford Expedition, Mustang and Lincoln Navigator.
