HOUGHTON — A Hancock man charged with shooting someone with a bow and arrow now knows his fate.

Fifty-eight-year old James Delmart Walters, Junior, was sentenced in Houghton County Circuit Court to four years and nine months to ten years in prison. He was credited with 65 days already served.

Walters was arrested in February after police arrived at a residence in Hancock and found a 56-year-old man shot in the shoulder with a broad head tipped arrow. The victim said the arrow missed his heart by only two inches.

Originally charged with attempted murder, Walters was able to plead no contest to assault with intent to do bodily harm less than murder as part of a plea agreement.
