Home invasion/assault suspect enters guilty plea

SAULT STE. MARIE — A Sault Ste Marie resident who was scheduled to begin his three-day trial today based on home invasion and assault charges has entered a guilty plea.

24–year–old Jameon Cox pleaded guilty to one count of assault by strangulation and also to home invasion in the third degree. Cox was arrested on November 1st last year after the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home invasion and assault complaint on the 6,000 block of Mackinac Trail in Sault Ste Marie.

He is scheduled for sentencing on May 24th.
