MARQUETTE — After pursuing different candidates since December, a local library’s board of trustees has found a new director.

The Board of Trustees for the Peter White Public Library in Marquette held a special meeting tonight to vote on it’s new director. The pool was narrowed down to two candidates, after one repealed their application.

The board voted in favor of Andrea Ingmire three to one.

President for the Board of Trustees James Jajich says, “Andrea’s very excited, yes, and I’m really looking forward to the time when she can come up here and that the Marquette Community can meet her. Both of them had been to Marquette many times, they’re very familiar with the Peter White Library, and both of them really wanted this position, and it was difficult, but we made a decision.”

Ingmire has experience running a county library and balancing multiple budgets at once which is partially what drew members of the board to vote for her.
