MARQUETTE — Donations are piling up at the St. Vincent De Paul store in Marquette as they gear up for their annual Christmas Giveaway.

Every year, donations are made available for hundreds of families who are in need of assistance come Christmas time. The day before the giveaway, the staff at St. Vinny’s fills the store with tons of brand new toys. Then, families get to browse the store and fill their shopping carts with anything they want.

St. Vincent de Paul manager, Stephanie Bordeaux said, “I can’t imagine a child going without a Christmas. I can’t imagine somebody struggling day in and day out and not being able to give Christmas at the end of the year. To me that is just unbearable, and it is so easy for us to do it.”

Last year, St. Vincent helped five–hundred families and over six–hundred children. Even more families are expected to participate in this year’s giveaway.

“It doesn’t take that much out of our day to just do a little extra. It is amazing to see those people leaving and just knowing that they will be able to wake up on Christmas morning and make their kids smile. That’s worth it.”

If interested in donating, you can drop–off toys or can come into the store and make a donation. The Christmas Giveaway takes place December 17th.
