MARQUETTE — An NMU student organization is holding a fundraiser that gets you all you can eat pizza. And who wouldn’t want all of that pizza?

The NMU chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America – or PRSSA – is holding their fourth annual Hometown Taste-Off. The student org is partnering with Culinary Students of NMU and other local businesses for the event. Guests have the opportunity to vote for their favorite pizza, and it sounds like there may be some stiff competition.

NMU PRSSA Chapter President Katie Bultman says, “Everybody votes on their favorite. It’s a blind taste test, so you don’t know which pizza is from which place, and at the end we tally up all of the votes, and we announce the Hometown Taste-Off winner. So the past two years Aubrey’s has won, and then the first year was Domino’s, so it’ll be kind of hard to see what happens this year, especially because we have some new places joining as well.”

The funds raised at the event will go towards both student orgs – a little for their own activities, and charitable endeavors.

“The funds are going to go towards both organizations for just pre-professional development, working on, you know, inviting speakers to our meetings,” Bultman added, “or also we partnered with Relay for Life and Room at the Inn. So we’re trying to work with those organizations this year, and hopefully some of the funds can help us with that as well.”

The event will also have raffles, door prizes and entertainment from Double Trouble DJs.

It runs from 5:30 to 7:00 Monday night at NMU’s Jacobetti Complex and it only costs $5.
