Multiple teams respond to garage fire

KINGSFORD — It took an entire public safety department to fight a garage fire, which still left surrounding properties damaged.

Just before nine last night, Kingsford Public Safety was dispatched to Lawrence Street after receiving several 911 calls that a garage was on fire. The detached garage was totally engulfed in flames when public safety arrived on scene.

All Kingsford Public Safety Officers were called in to fight the fire. The Iron Mountain Fire Department was requested to assist at the scene because another residence and other garages were very close to the structure fire.

Firefighters remained on the scene for two–and–a–half–hours. The garage is a total loss, which also had two vehicles inside.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
