ISHPEMING — It’s now one hundred percent official. Ishpeming Public Schools has their new superintendent.

At a brief special meeting Monday night, the Board of Education approved the contract for Carrie Meyer to be the new superintendent of Ishpeming Public Schools.

“It is the respectful recommendation of the superintendent that the board act to approve Mrs. Carrie Meyer’s contract of employment as superintendent of schools for the Ishpeming Public School District as presented,” said Geno Maino, the President of the Board of Education

No questions or concerns were raised. The Ishpeming Board of Education were unanimously thrilled to bring Meyer to the school.

“The employee board relations committee and myself met with Mrs. Meyer last week and reviewed the terms of her contract,” said Ishpeming Interim Superintendent Anthony Bertucci, “we had a very good meeting. She’s exciting to be coming here and we’re excited to have her join our team. We can’t wait for her to start.”

Interim Superintendent Anthony Bertucci along with the rest of the board are particularly eager about the years of experience and the familiarity that Mrs. Meyer will bring to Ishpeming. Meyer will begin her new position on Monday, November 30th to allow her time to wrap things up with her position as the superintendent for L’Anse Area Schools.
