Police department announces new Detective Lieutenant

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Police Department proudly announced the name of their new Detective Lieutenant.

Effective on November, 16th Greg Kinonen will take the position. Kinonen has been with the Marquette Police Department since October 1997. He was selected to fill the vacant Lieutenant position after the promotion of Mike Kohler to Detective Captain last month.

“Detective Kinonen has earned this position for a lot of reasons,” said Marquette City Police Department Detective Captain Mike Kohler, “he’s a very hard worker. He can handle a really good case–load and usually has a really good outcome on all of the cases he handles and he has some detail to his work. He has what it takes. He best fits what we need at this point and time for that position and he’s more than capable.”

Kinonen has served as a Patrolman and also as an Evidence Technician. ABC Ten got to spend some time with Kinonen while he was training cadets earlier this year at the N.M.U. Regional Police Academy as well.
