UP-Native, Kero, reflects on first NHL game
CHICAGO, Il. — Last night, former Michigan Tech Husky Tanner Kero played in his first NHL game and needless to say he was really excited.
“It’s pretty fun. It’s pretty surreal at the same time. Just grateful to be a part of this great organization here. Just grateful for the opportunity and now just got to take advantage of it,” Kero said.
The Hancock-native got called up earlier this week and he talked about the transition to the NHL and he says the biggest difference is the speed of the game.
I think everything is just, once again, just another notch up. Everything’s a little quicker. Passes come a little quicker. Guys are a little bit faster on the puck and faster sticks so you’re plays have to be a lot quicker,” said Kero.
Kero also had a message for his fans across the Upper Peninsula.
“I just want to say thanks to everyone up there. I can feel the support everywhere. It’s tremendous at how strong the support you can get from the whole U.P., the whole Michigan Tech community and the towns of Houghton and Hancock, the whole Upper Peninsula. I can definitely feel it and I’m very thankful for it,” Kero said.
The Blackhawks will be in action tonight in Minnesota taking on the Wild.
