MARQUETTE — With Halloween just around the corner, there are plenty of fun activities to get you in the spirit.

But, if you’re looking for something scarier, NMU has just the thing. On Friday, the Forest Roberts Theater will open their annual Haunted Theater. It’s full of spooks and scares, but it’s not quite like other theater productions you may have been to.

“It’s an immersive acting experience, so rather than having twenty feet between you and the audience, you’re this close and when you’re on, you’re on full bore,” said Martyn Martello, the director for the production

The Haunted Theater is a fundraiser for NMU’s First Nighter’s Club, which helps provide scholarships for theater students and purchase equipment for the theater itself. In hopes of defraying costs, the crew makes every year bigger and better than the last.

“We try, also, to find everybody’s fear. If you’re claustrophobic, we’ve got that covered. If you’re afraid of spiders, we’ve got that covered. If you don’t happen to like dead baby parts, well, we have that covered too!” Martello added.

The Haunted theater runs from October 30th to November 1st from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. However, the show is not for the faint of heart, especially young children. A family friendly version will be presented on November 1st from 4:00to 6:30 P.M.
