Man sentenced for assault after strangling victim

BARAGA — A Baraga man has been sentenced for assault by strangulation.

U.S. Attorney Patrick Miles, Jr. announced today that that 35 year old Jacob Charles Maki will serve 27 months behind bars for assault by strangulation.

Maki will also have three to five years of supervised release after the completion of his term of incarceration.

In June, Maki pleaded guilty to several assaults that reportedly happened earlier this year.

In one of the reported incidents he “pinned the victim in the tub and used his hands to strangle her.”
