MARQUETTE — Tonight a local hospital opened its doors to the community to share its latest news.
UP Health System – Marquette held an informational forum tonight to give the public an overview of their plans concerning the new $300 million campus.
Right now plans are on schedule and the officials say they hope to break ground this spring – weather permitting – and move in by 2018.
The new CEO, Trent Crable, was also introduced to the public at the meeting.
“We just want to make sure that we keep the public informed of our progress, and the plans, and next steps,” Crable says, “and kind of lay out the image of what the new organization is going to look like, and speak a little about the technology and advancements that we’ll be able to make with the new hospital.”
The public indeed had questions about the updates and plans.
Questions like: is the building wildlife friendly? What’s the facility’s relation to the roads? All those questions and others had answers readily available.
But a big question you could be asking… What will become of the old hospital?
Board Chair Judy Watson Olson says, “So we don’t have to make a decision yet, about it, we’re going to be here still for a couple of years in the facility, but it is one of the things we will try to move along.”
For those who missed the forum, the hospital has a website where you can submit any questions.
