Police looking for suspects in home invasion

ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP — Police in Ishpeming Township are on the lookout for two home invasion suspects.

The Ishpeming Township Police Department says the incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the North Lake residential area. A resident returned home after a short outing and encountered an unknown man and woman walking downstairs from the second story of the home. The suspects claimed to be working for the VA and checking on the welfare of a person whom the resident did not know.

The woman is described as being white, about five feet two inches tall, and a bit stocky with short blonde hair. The man is white and six feet one inch tall with an average build and short to medium length hair. Police say the subjects smelled of cigarette smoke, and they departed in what was described as an “older pickup” truck.

Nothing was stolen at the time of the incident, and no more information is available about the pair or their truck. Police say the incident was reported about two hours after it occurred.

The Ishpeming Township Police Department is reminding residents to lock their doors, keep an eye out for themselves and their neighbors, and report any suspicious persons or activities immediately by dialing 911.

While photographs, video, and vehicle license plate numbers are helpful, residents should not jeopardize their safety in any efforts to obtain such information.
