UPDATE — 1:35 p.m. October 14, 2015 (EDT)

Police have released more information about a two-car accident in Marquette Township that happened Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred around 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Wright Street and Commerce Drive. Two vehicles, a silver Chevrolet coupe driven by 29-year-old Hannah Erickson of Marquette and a red Ford F-150 driven by 23-year-old Kyle Storm of Negaunee, were involved.

According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Erickson was stopped at the intersection and pulled out in front of the Ford pickup. She stated that she did not see the truck.

Erickson was trapped in her vehicle after the collision. The Marquette Township Fire/Rescue used the Jaws of Life to extricate her from the vehicle. She was transported to UP Health System-Marquette for non-life threatening injuries.

The Chevrolet had extensive damage to the driver’s side and the truck received damage to the front end. Deputies say that Storm was able to leave the scene driving his vehicle.


MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Police rerouted traffic for the better part of an hour Wednesday morning after an accident at a busy intersection in Marquette Township.

The crash happened around 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Wright Street and Commerce Drive. Two vehicles, a silver Chevrolet coupe and a red Ford F-150, were involved. The Chevrolet had extensive damage to the driver’s side and the truck received damage to the front end. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. There is no word yet on any injuries.

Police closed the northbound lane of Wright Street and a portion of Commerce Drive while the clean-up effort was underway. The scene was cleared around 10:00 a.m.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Marquette Township Fire Department, UP Health System EMS, tow trucks from Mickey’s Marquette Detailing and Performance, Marquette City Police, and the Michigan State Police were at the scene.
