Lady Huskies Basketball Ranked No. 8 in Preseason Poll
HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team has earned a No. 8 ranking in the Division II Bulletin National Preseason Top 25 poll.
The Huskies are coming off a 2014-15 season where they compiled a 28-3 record, a GLIAC regular season crown and a GLIAC Tournament championship.
Four starters and all but two players return from that squad including All-GLIAC First Team selection Danielle Blake. The 6-0 forward led the Huskies in nearly every statistical category a year ago including scoring (13.0 points per game) and rebounding (7.5 per game).
Blake is a senior. The other three returning starters are all junior guards: Kelli Guy (11.0 ppg, 43.8 3-point percentage), Morgan Anderson (10.4 ppg, 3.4 assists per game) and Brenna Heise (9.7 ppg, 4.5 rpg).
Michigan Tech opens practice next week with its first preseason game set for Nov. 8 at Michigan State. The Huskies’ regular season opens at home Nov. 14 vs. Minnesota Duluth.
