NEGAUNEE TWP. — Michigan State Police troopers were called to the scene of an accident involving two semi-trucks today.

The incident took place at the intersection of US-41 and M-35 just before noon Thursday. Valeriy Semenov, 54, of Chicago was driving a flat-bed semi, attempting to merge onto US-41. Due to construction, he was redirected to make a right turn onto US-41. When Semenov attempted to make the turn, he didn’t see Freightliner semi-truck on the right side of his trailer.

The driver of the second trailer was Robert Schriber, 65, of Bark River. He had traveled up the right side of Semenov’s trailer while at the stop sign. As a result, the right side of Semenov’s trailer struck the left front corner of Schriber’s semi-truck.

No injuries were reported. Schriber was cited for improper lane use.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office
