Local airport to receive improvement grant

KI SAWYER — Sawyer International Airport is about to get a big pay check.

US Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow announced that Marquette County will receive $702,900 to help improve the airport. The funding comes from the FAA and will go toward runway fencing and runway rehabilitation.

Peters and Stabenow say they hope to encourage economic growth by supporting Sawyer.
