WATERSMEET — Troopers from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post received a tip describing an outdoor marijuana grow operation in Gogebic County near Watersmeet.

The illegal marijuana grow was located by state police troopers in a clearing near the Canadian Trans National Pipeline near the intersection of Old US-2 Hwy and US-2 Hwy. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post along with detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) seized a total of 221 marijuana plants. No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
