Driver cited after rollover crash
NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — A Negaunee woman was cited after rolling her van in Negaunee Township Wednesday night.
Deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office say the accident happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. on North Road. 20-year-old Joni Heino was driving south when she lost control of her Dodge Caravan while rounding a curve. Her vehicle left the roadway and rolled, landing on its roof.
Heino was not injured, but deputies say she was trapped in the van, hanging from the seat belt. Responders from the Marquette County Rescue Unit and Negaunee Township Fire Department helped her exit the vehicle. Heino was treated and released at the scene and cited for driving too fast for conditions.
The Negaunee City Police Department and UP Health System EMS also assisted at the scene.
