One sent to hospital after two-car collision

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — One person was sent to the hospital after a two-car crash in Negaunee Township Monday evening.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post say the accident happened around 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of US-41 and M-35. 45-year-old Denise Arbelius of Palmer was trying to cross the eastbound lanes of US-41 to head south on M-35 in a Chrysler Pacifica. As she crossed the lanes, she drove into the path of an eastbound Subaru Legacy driven by 48-year-old Anthony Lackey of Marquette. The two cars collided.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Lackey was transported to UP Health System – Bell for treatment. Arbelius was found at fault and cited for failing to yield the right of way.

Michigan State Police Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Negaunee Township Fire Department and First Responders and UP Health System EMS.
