FORSYTH TOWNSHIP — Four children were taken to the hospital this afternoon after a two–car accident in Forsyth Township.

Forysth Township Police and Fire were dispatched to the scene, just south of Seass Road, around 1:30 p.m. A woman with four children in the car was traveling south on M–35, when a deer crossed her path.

The woman slowed down to avoid hitting the deer. A dodge pickup truck traveling behind the woman’s car was unable to stop, slamming into the back of the woman’s car.

All four children inside the car were taken to the hospital.

“Stopping distance is greater than people think it needs to be,” said Chief Gordon Warchock of the Forsyth Township Police Department. “In this situation obviously it wasn’t enough.”

Warchock added that all four children that were taken to the hospital were conscious at the scene of the accident, which remains under investigation.
