Tech Football Picked Fourth in GLIAC North
BAY CITY, Mich. — Michigan Tech was picked fourth in the North Division in the 2015 GLIAC Preseason Football Coaches’ Poll, which released today on the GLIAC Football website. Ferris State topped the North Division poll while Ohio Dominican headed the South Division results.
The Huskies garnered 32 points in the poll, trailing Ferris (49), Grand Valley State (41) and Wayne State (33). The others in the eight-team division were Saginaw Valley State (25), Hillsdale (22), Northwood (13) and Northern Michigan (9).
In the seven-team South Division, ODU (36) is followed by Ashland (31), Findlay (26), Tiffin (19), Lake Erie (15), Walsh (14), and Malone (6).
Tech finished second in last year’s North standings with a 9-1 regular season record after being picked fourth in the preseason. The Huskies have placed fourth or better each of the last five seasons with a 37-15 record over that span.
Coach Tom Kearly and his squad open practice for the 2015 season on Thursday (Aug. 13). The Huskies begin the season Thursday, Sept. 3, vs. Wayne State at Sherman Field. The home game is one of five—four of which come before Oct. 11.
