GWINN –National Night Out events have been taking place throughout the area, and another one took place in Gwinn Tuesday night. But, this party had some special significance.

Tuesday, the Gwinn community got it’s first look at the new Memory Wall of Gwinn Logos. The wall is located inside the Clubhouse’s gym, which was recently remodeled. The gym has a lot of history, and the renovation reflects that.

“It is about community memories, and there are many. We talked about some of the memories we had in the gym and the memories were to be created through the logos because this was the original gym of the Modeltowners,” said Senior Center Director Brian Veale.

The Logo Wall features Gwinn logos from years past. The logos start in the early 1900’s when the clubhouse was originally a school. Each change and permutation is shown on the wall, all the way up to today’s Clawed “G.” In keeping with the community theme, Gwinn High School students did the art work.

“I really like the 60’s so I wanted to do the shield from the 60’s. I’m really into history so I think it’s important to preserve the past. It was a lot of work but I’m really happy that it turned out good and that I got to be a part of this!” said Bailey Crist, who worked on the project.

The gym was first opened in 1910. Athletes from days past and the present were in attendance to see the wall dedicated.
