Missing Kayakers found by emergency personnel

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP — Two missing kayakers are reported to be in good health after going missing for four hours early Thursday morning.

Forsyth Township Police say a 19-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were reported missing around 3:00 a.m. A family member told police that the pair was leaving the Gwinn area from the Nordeen Park access and traveling along the Escanaba River toward Rock. The family member said that they hadn’t been heard from since 8:45 p.m. the night before and had not arrived at their destination.

Police and responders were able to locate the kayakers at around 7:00 a.m. They had walked out to a cabin and sought shelter there until rescuers arrived.
