Man who fled traffic stop given prison time

IRON MOUNTAIN — A Marquette man who ran from a traffic stop in Iron Mountain has been sentenced in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

33–year–old Michael Marquardt was given sixteen months to six years in prison on the charge of assaulting, resisting, and obstructing a police officer causing injury. He received one year jail sentences on two additional charges. Those sentences will be served concurrently. Marquardt was given credit for 73 days served and will be required to pay just under $500 in fines and costs. He was also ordered to receive inpatient treatment while in prison.

Marquardt was arrested early on May 8th after allegedly fleeing police on foot after they attempted to arrest him for operating under the influence of drugs. Marquardt pleaded no contest to three of the six counts he was charged with.
