MARQUETTE — Marquette High School track star Lindsay Rudden has made a verbal commitment to run for the Michigan State Spartans next year.

Rudden was one of the best track and field athletes in the U.P. during her junior year at Marquette. She says she was contacted by many Big Ten schools including Wisconsin, Northwestern and Michigan. But she was more interested in Michigan State, who won nationals in cross country this year.

Rudden is eligible to sign her letter of intent in early November. She added that she was contacted via e–mail by one of the head coaches during her junior year and that’s when the recruiting process began.

“So then when summer hit, we started talking again during my season. And then I became a senior on July 1st so she came and visited me…had a home visit with me and that kind of sold me on Michigan State when she came up here. And then a couple weeks later, I committed. Their coaches are amazing. Their team’s super nice. Their campus…it’s just an all–around really good school,” Rudden said.

She says the decision on being redshirted during freshman year will be figured out between herself and the coaches.
