UPDATE — Wednesday, July 7, 2015 4:25 p.m. EDT

The names involved in Tuesday’s death in Ironwood have been released.

Ironwood Public Safety says that  the victim is 32-year-old Patrick Mullen Jr. of Ironwood. Mullen Jr. was allegedly dropped off at a house on the 600 block of E. Oak St. shortly before 2 a.m. Tuesday. The man police say dropped Mullen off at the residence is 32-year-old Martin Brecke, also of Ironwood. He’s been charged with Delivery of Heroin causing death. Brecke was arraigned in Gogebic County District Court.

Police say that the investigation is ongoing and that more charges could be forthcoming.


IRONWOOD — One man is dead and another is in custody tonight in the city of Ironwood.

Ironwood Public Safety received a 9-1-1 call just before 2 a.m. to an address on the 600 block of East Oak Street for an unresponsive 32-year-old man. The man was transported to Aspirus Grand View Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, another man, who fled the scene on foot, dropped off the unresponsive man at the residence. He was later located by police and lodged at the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department. The man is currently charged with Delivery of a controlled substance, Heroin, causing death. Names of the victim and the arrested individual have yet to be released.
