MARQUETTE — One man was injured Thursday morning after being run over by his unmanned vehicle on Spring Street in Marquette.

Marquette City Police officers at the scene said the incident happened around 9:45 a.m. The driver of a teal Ford station wagon was parked and attempting to assist his passenger by removing items from the vehicle. The station wagon was not in park and rolled backwards over the man.

He was transported to UP Health System – Marquette for treatment of injuries to his lower body. No citations were issued. Marquette Police received swift assistance from the nearby Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police, the City of Marquette Fire Department, and UP Health System – Marquette EMS.
