MARQUETTE — What do actors, athletes and rock stars have in common? That’s easy… A visit to the U.P. for a celebrity golf tournament to benefit a local non–profit.

The Beacon House Celebrity Match Party is an event that preludes the Golf Classic and celebrates volunteers, sponsors and supports.

Former NFL wide receiver/kick returner for the Oakland Raiders and current NMU Football coach Marcus Knight says, “Oh I think it’s a great event. Anytime you can do something charity wise to help others and use your pedestal, as far as being a celebrity for something good, I always think that’s a great thing.”

This marks the fifth golf classic, but the first year that the match party has a full program. Celebs donated memorabilia for a live and a silent auction. You could even bid on a ten pound crab caught by the cast of the television show The Deadliest Catch.

The Match Party for the Celebrity Golf Classic on behalf of Beacon House is a prelude to the actual event. Celebrities and donors alike share a meal and share a good time here.

The best part thought is celebrating the contributions from Beacon House supports from across the country and the work that Beacon House does.

“Their mission, as I said, is so special it helps people in need at a time when they really have no other place to turn,” says CEO of Vast, Scott White, “and they’re focused on getting somebody healthy or working on their health issues and they can stay at a place close to the hospital is just something very special and we’re blessed to have it in our community.”
