MARQUETTE — Bishop John Doerfler ordained three men as priests and two men as Deacons at the Saint Peter Cathedral in Marquette.
Aaron Nowicki and Jernej Suster were ordained to the Deacon and will continue preparing for priesthood. Brandon Ohman from Ralph, Brad Sjoquist from Kingsford, and Tim Ferguson from Saginaw were ordained as priests. The new priests are looking forward to working in the Upper Peninsula.
“It’s home, it’s comfortable,” said Father Tim Ferguson. “Bishop Sample was a good friend of mine for a number of years and I know a number of the other priests up here and it’s a great place to be.”
These were the first group of priests that Bishop Doerfler has ever ordained. That didn’t seem to bother the new priests though, who are excited to get to work.
“I’m here to do God’s will, to remain open to whatever Jesus calls me to, to serve God’s people in the best way that I can, to hopefully myself become as holy as I can and help as many people follow that same path,” Father Ferguson added.
This was the first time in over twenty years that three priests were ordained at one time for their Diocese
