IRON MOUNTAIN — A driver was cited after a single-vehicle rollover accident in Iron Mountain Wednesday evening.

Officers from the Iron Mountain Police Department say they responded to the accident on US-2 near Sunset Drive shortly after 8:00 p.m. A 46-year-old Quinnesec man left the roadway in his vehicle after allegedly falling asleep. His vehicle entered the ditch and became airborne. It jumped a driveway and rolled after hitting an embankment on the other side.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Police say he was issued a citation for inattentive driving.

The Iron Mountain Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Iron Mountain Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Beacon Ambulance, and the Breitung Township Fire Department.
