Students giving back to the community

BARAGA — Students from Baraga Area Schools set out to give back to the community.

These students from Baraga High School and Middle School spent part of the day volunteering at the Copper Country Humane Society. The students are members of the student council and part of S.A.D.D.-Students Against Destructive Decisions.

“Baraga High School Junior and Student Council President Courtney Mayo said, “I like how many people decided to come today because it means a lot to the community and it’s nice to see that people in this school like to help around the community.”
The students helped out by walking the dogs and playing with the cats…and they also gave a donation to the shelter of $200.

“Baraga High School Student Council and S.A.D.D. Advisor Michelle Serafin said, “I think it’s good for the kids to learn community service at a young age. We have some kids here today as young as sixth grade that are, you know, learning how to give back and learning how to make a difference.”
