MARENISCO — A rollover accident left one man dead early Saturday morning.

Deputies from the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office say the accident was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. on M-64 approximately one mile south of Ojibway Road, south of Marenisco. Initial investigation revealed that the victim, a 27-year-old from Marenisco, was traveling northbound on M-64 when he lost control of his vehicle and rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post and the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office. Marenisco EMS, Marenisco Township Police, and Beacon Ambulance also responded to the incident.
