Gun threat puts school on a lock down

MANISTIQUE — Around noon today, Manistique Public Safety Dispatch received a call from an unidentified caller, who stated that he was at Manistique High School with a handgun. The school was immediately placed on an emergency lock down.

Police searched the building and no suspects were located.

School officials dismissed school early at 1:25 p.m. All events at the school scheduled for tonight have been canceled. Manistique Public Schools will resume normal school hours tomorrow.

On Monday, Aspen Ridge Middle School in West Ishpeming was placed on lock down after a member of the school staff found a note about a bombing.

That note turned out to be part of a school project. No students were in the building at the time of the lock down.
