The Lady Huskies pass out awards for this past season

HOUGHTON — The Michigan Tech girls basketball team announced their team awards and there weren’t a lot of surprises…just some well deserved praise after a great season.

Senior forward Jilian Ritchie was named most valuable player for the 2014–15 season. Ritchie averaged 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds for the Lady Huskies. The co–captain had four 20–plus point games this past year, including a 35–point game at Northwood on February 19th.

The Harold Meese Sportsmanship award winner was co–captain Emily Harrison.

The most improved player award was given to guard Kelli Guy, who went from averaging 1.6 points in her freshman year to averaging 11 points in her sophomore year.

Freshman guard Sarah LewAllen was named outstanding newcomer of the year and junior guard Kerry Gardner took home the scholastic achievement award for having the highest GPA, a 3.94.
