GWINN — Thanks to the generosity of the local community and beyond, a Marquette County library is one step closer to being in its brand new home.

The Forsyth Township Public Library in Gwinn broke ground in October on a new and improved facility right down the street from its original location. Now, the new building is almost ready, with crews putting on the finishing touches and moving in some of the furniture, which was obtained through various donations.

“When the bids came in for the building, they were way beyond our expectations, and we knew we would have to seek a lot of donations, ask for help in furnishing the building to get it built,” said director Pamela Withrow.

The current library will be closing its doors from April 3rd to the 13th to get situated in its new home.

“We’re asking for volunteers to come Monday, April 6th, at 9:00 a.m. Bring a cart, wagon, whatever you’ve got with wheels, and help us move the books,” Withrow added.

Library officials ask that interested volunteers give them a call before the big day. The library can be reached at (906) 346-3433 or by visiting their Facebook page.
