MARQUETTE — Reduce, re-use, recycle. Many of us think of that motto when we want to make new products out of old ones. Some area designers do that with clothes and jewelry.

Garden Bouquet and Design of Marquette is sponsoring its sixth annual ReFashion Show. It’s a fundraiser for the Marquette Regional History Center.

ReFashion is a runway show of designs that combine old, new, in-style and out-of-style fashions to create new looks.

“We do have vendors back again, using upcycled materials to create accessories, jewelry, purses (and) other kinds of gift-type items,” Marquette Regional History Center assistant director Cris Osier said.

The concept is called upcycling if the new pieces are more upscale than the older ones they’re made out of.

The ReFashion Show had been a summertime event until now.

“During the summer, there are many events that keep people busy, as well as this business, which is primarily weddings, and also the Marquette Regional History Center, which also hosts weddings now,” Garden Bouquet & Design owner Kim Smith said.

The show is Saturday, March 14th at the History Center. Tickets are $10 each for adults and $5 for kids.
