Doncker’s prepares for Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and many of us are looking for that perfect gift for that perfect someone.
One Marquette shop has all the goodies you need. Doncker’s is all geared up for the holiday, with a variety of candies and gifts to make this Valentine’s Day one to remember. But, if you’re running behind on your shopping, don’t worry, you’re not alone.
“Valentine’s Day is not a plan ahead sort of holiday. A lot of people get things at the last minute so usually a couple days beforehand and Valentine’s Day we’re busy,” said Austin Gatz, manager of the candy store.
Shoppers will find colorful foil wrapped hearts, chocolate roses, and heart shaped boxes filled with chocolate and caramels. While some of the candy sold at Doncker’s is shipped in, much of it is homemade. Employees work hard to make the caramels, almond bark and fudge from scratch.
“It’s a lot of work to make the amount of product we push through the store, so it’s not an easy job, but it’s a fun job,” Gatz added.
