MTU’s Ritchie earns weekly GLIAC award
BAY CITY, Mich. — Michigan Tech women’s basketball player Jillian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) was named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week for helping the Huskies extend their winning streak to 11 games with a trio of wins last week.
The senior forward had eight points and seven rebounds in a rivalry win over NMU on Monday (Feb. 2). On Thursday (Feb. 5), she posted a career-high 23 points at Ferris State and followed up with 11 points and eight rebounds at Grand Valley on Saturday (Feb. 7), snapping the Lakers’ 11-game home win streak.
The team co-captain has helped Tech take a four-game lead in the GLIAC North standings with five games to go.
Michigan Tech, which is 20-1 overall and 16-1 in GLIAC play, hosts Hillsdale and Saginaw Valley State this Thursday (Feb. 12) and Saturday (Feb. 14), respectively.
