NMU’s Mattison earns GLIAC award
MARQUETTE – Northern Michigan University men’s basketball senior forward Chavis Mattison was named GLIAC North Player of the Week after recording a pair of double-doubles on the weekend as NMU went 1-1.
Mattison opened the weekend with a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds against LSSU before scoring a game-high 28 points and grabbing another 10 rebounds in an overtime victory over Northwood. Mattison finished the weekend shooting 16-23 (.696) from the field and going 14-15 (.933) from the free throw line.
The double-doubles were his third and fourth of the season. Mattison currently leads the team averaging 6.6 rebounds per game.
Northern Michigan travels to Michigan Tech tonight, Monday, February 2nd for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
