NMU students make clothes and blankets for the Women’s Center

MARQUETTE — The MLK Day of Service events continued at NMU with students showing their crafting abilities to help out domestic and sexual abuse victims.

NMU students were showing off their skills with thread, knitting needles and pairs of scissors. They were creating hats, gloves and scarves for the Women’s Center and Harbor House in Marquette. Other students also made blankets.

“This is really important, just to recognize how we can all come together as a community and support each other and make it welcoming for everyone who lives here,” Hannah Lewis from the NMU Center for Student Enrichment said. “We’re just really excited to have the opportunity to get everyone together.”

The NMU President’s Committee on Diversity funded the MLK Day of Service events.
