Road rage suspect sentenced to probation

MARQUETTE — A Skandia man will have to spend six months on probation after pleading no contest in relation to an alleged road rage incident.

Patrick Murphy, 21, was sentenced in District Court this afternoon. He recently pleaded no contest to malicious destruction of property worth less than $200.

The Chocolay Township Police originally accused him, his brother, Daniel Murphy, 24, of Skandia, and their father, Jeremiah Murphy, 59, of Jacksboro, Tennessee, in the incident.

They were all originally charged with unarmed robbery and assault with intent to rob while unarmed. The charges against Jeremiah and Daniel Murphy have since been dismissed.

Police said Patrick Murphy was involved in a confrontation with two other men in the Ace Hardware parking lot in Harvey in October. The two victims were assaulted and had items taken from them.
