UPDATE: Names released in fatal Escanaba accident

Escanaba Public Safety officers say Rebecca Dabney was traveling northbound on North 30th Street when she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line.

She entered the southbound lane of traffic and hit a vehicle driven by Brian Flath. Flath and his passenger Robert Dunstone, 81, were transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital by Rampart.

Dunstone was pronounced dead at the hospital due to sustained injuries. Flath was treated and released.

A two–vehicle accident in Escanaba has claimed the life of one passenger.

Officers from Escanaba Public Safety say the collision occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. Sunday on the 1000 block of North 30th Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found that two vehicles were involved, and three people were sent to the hospital.

A passenger of one of the vehicles who was hospitalized was later pronounced dead at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

Police say icy roads were a contributing factor in the accident.

The crash is still under investigation.

The Michigan State Police, Delta County Sheriff’s Department and Rampart assisted on scene.
