12 Dogs of Christmas kicks off in the Copper Country

HOUGHTON, Mich. – With the holiday season winding down, an annual campaign to bring awareness to a Copper Country animal shelter is underway.

The 12 Dogs of Christmas campaign is a partnership of the Copper Country Humane Society and Houghton Community Broadcasting. Beginning Friday, the radio station will highlight one dog each day and will feature a bio for that dog on the website.

Katelyn Hough from the Humane Society said the campaign was successful last year and they hope it will be the same this time around.

“The 12 Dogs of Christmas is something that we do to promote certain dogs to get adopted. We like to usually do the ones who have been here for a while to get them out in the public and hopefully spark some interest,” Hough said.

The humane society also has many cats that are up for adoption as well.
