Coreau making his mark in Grand Rapids

ISHPEMING, Mich. – Detroit Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek got the start in net Sunday for Detroit. The Wings are currently without their two usual netminders in Jimmy Howard and Jonas Gustavsson, who are both nursing injuries. Having those guys on the shelf has opened up opportunities for other guys in the system.

One guy who’s stepped it up in recent weeks is former NMU goalie Jared Coreau. In six games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, Coreau has six wins with a 1.29 goals against average and a save percentage of .955.

Coreau stopped 34 shots in the Griffins 4-3 win against Lake Erie Saturday.
