Grand Marais man suspected of larceny pleads guilty, sentenced

MUNISING — An Alger County man who broke into a Munising Township business was sentenced to time served after making a guilty plea in court Tuesday.

William Rauff, Jr., 22, of Grand Marais pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of larceny between $200-$1,000. He was originally charged with larceny in a building.

The charge stems from an incident in 2013 when he stole items from M-28 Auto. The stolen property was found at his home after police executed a search warrant December 8.

Rauff was sentenced to nine days in jail with credit for those nine days and was ordered to pay $675 in fines. If Rauff does not pay the fine in 120 days, he could be forced to spend 90 days in jail.
