MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a personal injury crash on US–41 near Northwoods Road in Marquette Township from Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened shortly after 3:00 p.m. Deputies say a 2006 Toyota SUV driven by a 62–year–old Crystal Falls woman pulled into the path of a 1999 Dodge pickup driven by a 28–year–old Ishpeming woman.

The Toyota was exiting the access road to Lowe’s and GFS attempting to enter the eastbound lanes of US–41. The driver of the Dodge was traveling in the left westbound lane and tried to avoid the Toyota, but ended up hitting the driver’s side of the SUV.

Both occupants of the Toyota were transported to U.P. Health System Marquette, and deputies say the driver is in critical condition. Seat belts were used and airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to leave a message with your contact information on the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (906) 225–8441 or via the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
