Lakeshore Blvd. flooding issues can be resolved for $6m
A few months back, portions of the rock adjacent to Lakeshore Blvd was destroyed by a storm and severe flooding occurred. Commissioners are looking to approve a resolution that would allow them to apply for a 1.5 million dollar grant to assist in solving the issue.
“The total cost to fix the break wall will be about six million dollars. It needs to be designed and engineered correctly with the appropriate size rock, right now it’s just a hodge podge of what was put out there over the last 90 years, I guess you could say,” said Keith Whittington, Marquette City Commissioner.
Commissioners will look into other resources but Whittington says this grant will get them started. This is the third time the road needed to be closed this year due to breakwall flooding issues.
